LeBron James is the richest player in the league currently after he became the first-ever active NBA player to reach billionaire status in 2022.
LeBron James has no shortage of money, with his NBA salary, endorsement deals, and business ventures bringing him over $100 million each year. But he remains committed to earning more, as he suggested on his latest Instagram story.

He uploaded this story during the incredible Game 6 clash between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat, apparently not watching his former team in the Eastern Conference Finals. LeBron James could have someone’s number saved in his phone as ‘Money,’ perchance agent Rich Paul or even Kevin Durant, who calls himself ‘easymoneysniper’ on Instagram. Both those things are unlikely though, it seems more like James was just trying to make a point.
LeBron James has made his desire to own an NBA franchise public for years now. It seems possible that he will be at least a part owner of the potential expansion team based in Las Vegas. While his being a billionaire is incredibly impressive, he will need to amass more wealth if he is to do that though, and it seems he is committed to earning as much money as he can in service of that.
LeBron James Made $119.5 Million In The Last Year
NBA players make more money than ever in this era, a fact that has made older stars jealous from time to time. Having said that though, nobody makes nearly as much money as LeBron James. LeBron has his max contract, he has endorsement deals with Nike among many others, and he owns various brands, notably his Lobos tequila that he frequently markets. And thanks to all of his centuries, James led the league in money earned in 2022, topping the list with his whopping $119.5 million.
The gap between him and the rest of the league is also quite massive, he pulled in $26.4 million more than Stephen Curry in second place. And his earnings were more than double that of Damian Lillard in the 7th spot on the list. LeBron James is famously cautious with his money to the point of being stingy, but it works for him and he seems to still have that drive to earn even more.
