The Golden State Warriors suffered a massive setback when they lost against the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 6 and got knocked out of the playoffs. This is the first time under Steve Kerr that the Warriors have lost a playoff series that isn’t the NBA Finals.
Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green are the core stars that have built the Warriors dynasty. All of them are over the age of 33, though, and it feels like their time at the top might be at an end. But Steve Kerr doesn’t think so.
“I think it’s probably too raw right now for me to think about,” Kerr said after the game. “The one thing I will say is that Draymond, Klay, and Steph, our core guys, they’ve got plenty left to offer. There’s still plenty in the tank. I think they all had great seasons.
“It may not have ended on a high note, but all three guys are still high-level players and I still feel like this team has championship potential. We didn’t get there this year but that’s not the end of the rope. The organization has some decisions to make and we’ll eventually get to that point.”

Steve Kerr has achieved great things with this trio, four championships is nothing to sneeze at. And they have grown together, there is always value in keeping a unit like that and moving forward with them. The Warriors have decisions to make for sure, but Curry, Thompson, and Green have earned the benefit of the doubt with everything they have achieved together.
The Warriors Organization Reportedly Thinks The Same Way As Steve Kerr
While rebuilding is always an enticing prospect, many teams in the NBA have proved that it is not as simple as it appears. Teams can get stuck in a rut and the Warriors have become too good an organization to abide by too much losing. Stephen Curry is somehow getting better with age too, which means that even in the worst case, only a retool is likely and not a rebuild.
According to reports though, there are people within the franchise that think this core still has what it takes to win championships. Klay Thompson will need to do better than he did during this playoff run, but he does have the capacity to do so. The Golden State Warriors have shown time and again that they shouldn’t be written off, and any version of this team will surely be a contender again next season.
