The New York Knicks will start their second-round series against the Miami Heat without their second-best player, Julius Randle.

The talented forward was dealing with some issues from the Cleveland Cavaliers series and Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the All-Star won’t be available for today’s game against the No. 8 seed Heat.

“Knicks All-Star F Julius Randle (ankle sprain) is expected to be out for Game 1 vs. Miami today, sources tell ESPN.”

This is a big loss for the Knicks, of course, but things could go well for them even without Randle on the court. This team has played incredible basketball this season, and the series against the Cavaliers showed that they have a big desire to win.

It won’t be easy, considering how well their rivals played, too, but the New Yorkers are ready to make a statement even without Randle.

Can Knicks Beat Heat Without Randle?

Obi Toppin should have more action today than in prior games, which could be fun for Knicks fans. They have a big leader in Jalen Brunson, who didn’t hide against the Cavaliers.

If Brunson and the rest of the team are inspired, they will have a big chance to shut down Jimmy Butler and co. in Game 1.

The Heat, on the other hand, announced that Bam Adebayo will play today, and this could be a problem without Randle. Then again, they have other big men to deal with Bam, including Mitchell Robinson.

Playing without Julius will make things harder for Tom Thibodeau’s team, but this team showed that they have the depth to compete against anybody, including the inspired Jimmy Butler, who recently dominated the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.

This is one of the best series of this round despite the position each team finished in during the regular season. Both the Knicks and Heat are hungry to win, and this should be a fun duel to watch.
