The Milwaukee Bucks season ended in the first round this year after they lost to the Miami Heat. There is no doubt that many didn’t expect this to happen, as the Bucks looked like the best team in the NBA for the majority of the season.

After his team got eliminated, Giannis Antetokounmpo was asked whether this season was a failure, to which he responded that there was no failure in sports. Many have criticized him for saying that, but it seems as though Warriors coach Steve Kerr is on his side, rhetorically questioning if there are 29 failures in the league every year.

“My reaction was just how lucky we are to have Giannis in the league, being one of the marquee stars in the league. Not only for his talent but for his humanity… He’s so right. Are there really 29 failures in the league every year… these guys work so hard and they put so much into it… Giannis is right… As long as they put in the work and put in the effort… Upset, and 1 vs 8 and all that… Somebody’s going to win and somebody’s going to lose.”

There is no doubt that there’s more to basketball than just winning championships. At the end of the day, we know that everyone in the NBA is among the best of the best at basketball. Even the 15th man on any given team is still miles better than others who play the sport and aren’t in the league. Sometimes, basketball is about the process and the journey, and not being able to win a championship doesn’t mean a player isn’t great.

Mike Budenholzer Has A Different Opinion On The Bucks’ Season Than Giannis Antetokounmpo

Though Giannis Antetokounmpo may not feel as though this season is a failure, it is clear that some believe otherwise. In fact, coach Mike Budenholzer pointed out that the team had “high expectations” and added that they are “disappointed” in the outcome.

“I respect the question. I understand the question. This team has incredibly high expectations,” Budenholzer said. “We’re disappointed. We’re frustrated. It hurts. But I said it all year, we love this team. We love these guys. I believe in them. We believe in them. We didn’t get it done tonight. But to me, just disappointed, hurt, frustrated, I think is more characteristic of how we feel about tonight.”

Hopefully, we see the Milwaukee Bucks bounce back from this loss and come back stronger than ever. They still have the talent to be a championship contender next season, and we’ll see what happens with them in the future.
