Following their disappointing loss in Game 2 and all the trash talk that followed, the Los Angeles Lakers were keen to make a statement in Game 3 and they did just that.

The Lakers steamrolled the Memphis Grizzlies in the first quarter and then kept them at arm’s length to take a 2-1 lead in the series with a 111-101 win here. Their fans were understandably thrilled with the result.

A fan claimed the Lakers own the Grizzlies after this win.

The Lakers won the first quarter 35-9, with that being the largest lead in NBA postseason history after a quarter. LeBron James had a hot start as he sent a message to the Grizzlies and he finished the night with 29 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, a steal, and a block. Anthony Davis, meanwhile, led the team with 31 points to go with 17 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks.

For the Grizzlies, Ja Morant had a big night with 45 points, 13 assists, and 9 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough. Morant even scored 22 points in a row for the Grizzlies at one point and threatened to make the game somewhat close, but it wasn’t to be. Dillon Brooks, who had been talking so much prior to the game, got ejected in the third quarter as well, in what was just a terrible night all around for the Grizzlies.

All The Pressure Is Now On The Grizzlies

The Grizzlies are now at serious risk of a first-round exit, a disastrous outcome for a team that finished with the second-best record in the Western Conference. They are now almost in a must-win territory in Game 4 and will have to put in a great performance if they are to avoid falling into a 3-1 hole.

We can say almost for certain that Morant will ball out in that one, but there are serious question marks surrounding the rest of the team. Desmond Bane had just 18 points in the loss while Jaren Jackson Jr. only had 13 points and 5 rebounds. Brooks had a terrible game as well before his ejection, with 7 points on 3-13 shooting. If these three aren’t able to up their game on Tuesday, then the Grizzlies are headed toward an early vacation.
