It was Michael Jordan who came to the sports world’s rescue when the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic jammed the brakes on sporting events across the world.

‘The Last Dance’ documented the life and times of the Chicago Bulls legend and was something that fans tuned in to every Sunday religiously on ESPN. It was later available for streaming on Netflix for those who missed the two-hour episodes. Now, it’s been three years since the documentary was released.

The 10-episode docuseries was pretty much a summation of the Bulls dynasty, their three-peat, and the inside story. The fly-on-the-wall format meant fans were given an in-depth story about Jordan and the Bulls’ journey.

Directed by Jason Hehir, the series aired from April 19 to May 17, 2020. ‘The Last Dance’ bagged the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series at the 72nd Emmy Awards.

To date, NBA fans have been tuning in to Netflix to watch choice snippets from the show. Soon after ESPN tweeted that it was three years since fans responded, calling it one of the greatest basketball documentaries ever.

“Best sports doc ever. MJ held us down during COVID,” one of the fans tweeted.

While at it, “Isiah Thomas is still in search of an apology,” a fan mocked.

“This single-handedly carried Sports during one of the worst times of our lives. For that, I will always cherish this documentary besides the fact that it’s an absolute masterpiece,” a tweet read.

‘The Last Dance’ may not be everyone’s cup of tea, especially those who have differing thoughts on the documentary, but there is no doubt that it will go down as one of the more iconic shows to have ever been made.
