Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks finished the 2022-23 NBA season as the first seed in the Eastern Conference with a 58-24 record.

Of course, the Bucks are one of the favorites to win the 2023 NBA title, and it was proven in a recent survey conducted by ‘The Athletic.’ The survey featured 90 anonymous NBA players, and 62.2% believe that the Bucks will be the champions of the league this season.

“Just veterans,” one player told The Athletic. “They’ve been there before. They know what they’re doing. They have guys at every position and go deep.”

One key detail about the poll is the fact that it was conducted before Giannis Antetokounmpo was injured in Game 1 of the first-round matchup vs. the Miami Heat.

The Bucks made a comeback in Game 2 without Giannis and registered a stunning 138-122 win to level the series at 1-1.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Claims He’s Been The MVP For The Last Five Years

Giannis Antetokounmpo has undoubtedly become one of the best players in the league over the last few years.

The two-time NBA MVP also led the Bucks to an NBA title in 2021. Prior to the start of the postseason, Giannis made the bold claim about being the most valuable player in the NBA over the last five years.

“Look, I will never try to create a narrative about the work I put in, and maybe that might hurt me because I believe the last five years I’ve been the MVP,” Antetokounmpo said. “Do I want a third MVP? Hell f—— yeah I want a third one. I am extremely competitive. I try to make my team successful. That’s what I get paid for. That’s what I’m here for. I’m never going to be one who discredits anybody else’s work. That’s not who I am as a person. And I will never beg for an MVP award that I believe I deserve. I’m very proud that I’m able to play at an MVP level because that means I’m making my team very successful. That’s the goal.”

Although Antetokounmpo claimed he wants to win the third MVP award of his career, he will trade that for winning another NBA title in a heartbeat.

If Giannis can get back to 100% fitness, he will surely help the Bucks in potentially win the championship this season. The Bucks fanbase will soon hope to hear a piece of good news about Giannis’ health. Until then, the franchise will try to stay competitive enough to stay in the postseason.
