Former NBA Player Calls Out Grizzlies For Constantly Disrespecting LeBron James: “It’s Like Talking Junk To Mike When He Was With The Wizards.”

The Memphis Grizzlies players weren't afraid of LeBron James, and they let the Los Angeles Lakers players know.

Former NBA star Jim Jackson was relentless in his lambasting of the Memphis Grizzlies for their constant disrespect towards LeBron James.

“It’s a lot easier to talk to 38-year-old LeBron who’s not the same kind of player,” Jackson, speaking on the Dan Patrick Show.

“It’s like talking junk to Mike when he was with the Wizards. Now he can still go off and give you 40, or 50. But it’s not the same as it was a young Mike in Chicago. When he just had the energy to go out and beat you not just offensively, but more importantly defensively — get up on you and change the game as well.”

He further added: “So it’s a lot easier to talk smack to a 38-year-old LeBron than he was with Cleveland the first time when he had like 25 in the fourth quarter [against the Pistons], or what he did with Boston when he was in Miami. That’s a whole different animal.“

Game 2 of the playoff skirmish between the two teams saw ample fireworks between the Grizzlies and James. Dillon Brooks, fast-cementing his case as one of the chirpiest players in the league, had his share of confrontations with the veteran.

“I don’t care — he’s old. You know what I mean?” Brooks said after the game. “I was waiting for that. I was expecting him to do that in Game 4, and Game 5. He wanted to say something when I got my fourth foul. He should have been saying that earlier on. But I poke bears. I don’t respect no one until they come and give me 40.”

James had a productive night, notching up 28 points and 12 rebounds, but the Lakers went down 103-93. And like Michael Jordan, who was the ultimate trash talker, James will wait his turn and dish out some choice words for good measure surely when these two teams meet again.

LeBron James Isn’t One To Back Away From Talking Trash

LeBron James might be 38, but he wasn’t one to back down from players talking trash to him, and he let Dillon Brooks know after drilling a tough shot.

With the series tied 1-1, the competition is far from over, and James will now have Brooks in his crosshairs. The Lakers were let down by a below-par performance from Anthony Davis, but they will be keen to get back to winning ways and put the Grizzlies out of title contention.

Expect some more fireworks and trash talk between James and Brooks in the days to come.
