Draymond Green found himself in the center of controversy once again after stomping on Domantas Sabonis during Game 2 between the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings.
Sabonis is a Lithuanian basketball legend, so the incident led to some animated reactions from Lithuanian media. Karolis Tiškevičius, a podcaster, went on a rant about Green where he ended up calling the Warriors’ forward a ‘monkey.’
“What happened yesterday in Sacramento, when Draymond Green just like a monkey was jumping. There is no racism here. If you want you can try to see this kind of jumping is a monkey jumping, and he was jumping on Domantas Sabonis. If you see racism here, it’s your own personal problem. It was horrible behavior and later he claimed that ‘my leg was stuck, I didn’t have anywhere to put my leg and that’s how I stepped on him’. No, you kicked him because he hold your leg. A real animal, animal.”

There’s no place for calling professional athletes ‘monkeys’ regardless of the situation. The racist connotation of calling someone a monkey is almost universally understood, so you can’t make a racist comparison and then claim you are not being racist. There was any number of things he could’ve said, but he chose something that’s known to be a racial slur.
Will Draymond Green Play In Game 3?
Many fans debated whether Green should be suspended for his stomp. It was definitely a non-basketball play but not to the extent that people start using racist language against Draymond. The NBA ejected him from Game 2, with many wondering if there’ll be further punishment.
It seems Green will avoid a suspension but could still get fined. If he does get suspended, the Warriors could easily fall down 3-0 at home without their defensive anchor on the court. They need him to step up and do what he does best to help them pull off an incredible series win.
