Stephen A. Smith is a die-hard New York Knicks fan and he has seen his team fall flat on its face time and time again over these last two decades. There is reason to believe, however, that there is something different about the current iteration of the Knicks.
They showed that once again when they stunned the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road by winning Game 1 of their playoff series 101-97, and Smith was thrilled by the result.
“One down… three to go,” Smith said. “Orange and blue skies baby! Orange and blue skies! You saw the boys show up. You saw Jalen Brunson show up, you saw Josh Hart show up. Julius Randle, he still ain’t back yet, he’s only getting warmed up y’all. Cleveland going down! I love Donovan Mitchell, love him, but they don’t have enough. Knicks gonna handle this. One down, three to go. And you thought the big boys were nervous in Cleveland, what’s gonna happen to them when they show up to The Garden? New York stand up! Woo! Told you.”

Knicks fans in general were just as excited as Smith is here. There was a lot to like about their performance, and you can understand why the fans are so optimistic about this team. Signing Jalen Brunson last summer has proven to be a masterstroke, and he delivered once again in this game.
Brunson was in foul trouble early on but got going in the second half and finished with a team-high 27 points. Julius Randle was inefficient from the field, scoring 19 points on 7-20 shooting but did haul in 10 rebounds on his return from injury. Josh Hart, meanwhile, scored 17 points off the bench and hit a huge three-pointer to give them the lead with less than two minutes remaining and they wouldn’t surrender that lead the rest of the way. The Knicks are now in the driver’s seat and if they win Game 2 in Cleveland, then a series win is almost certainly assured.
Knicks Fans Hilariously Revealed What They Would Give Up For A Championship
The Knicks fanbase hasn’t had much to celebrate over the last two decades, but this team is making them excited about the future. Some fans were asked what they would give up for the team to win a title, and there were some hilarious answers. One of them said they would give up their relationship, while another said they would part with their dog.
A title is still well beyond reach, but the Knicks have been touted as a potential landing spot for Luka Doncic, and if they can somehow pull that off, then they would be contenders. For now, though, the fans would just be hoping that they can get past the Cavaliers to get to the Conference Semifinals.
