Michael Jordan and LeBron James are considered two of the best players in the history of the league.

While fans have always compared the careers of Jordan and James, the two superstars never played a game against each other in the NBA. But the thing that not many realize is the fact that the two legends of the sport were just three months away from playing in the league at the same time.

Michael Jordan retired after this two-year stint with the Washington Wizards on April 16, 2003. On the other hand, LeBron James was drafted using the first overall draft pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers on June 26, 2003.

Had MJ decided to play one more season in the league, fans would have seen their dream matchup of Jordan vs. James in the NBA. In addition, Kobe Bryant was also active in the NBA at the time. So we were essentially just three months away from seeing arguably the three greatest players of all time be active together.

Michael Jordan And LeBron James Played Together At MJ’s Training Camp

While fans’ dreams of seeing Jordan and LeBron on the court in the NBA were never fulfilled, they did play together at one of Jordan’s camps in California.

According to the Los Angeles Lakers superstar, he and Jordan teamed up and didn’t lose even a single game.

“That’s Michael Jordan’s camp in Santa Barbara. We were on the same team then. I was a rookie in the league, and I went to Santa Barbara, to MJ’s camp, and we used to play around 9:00 pm, the camp would end. He would let the kids watch the first game around like 8:30, and then he had all the kids leave, and then we would stay along with the college kids that he would invite to the games as well. We would get a good run-in for about an hour, hour-fifteen. So, yeah, I was on a team with MJ, and we didn’t lose a game.”

Regardless of who they think the greatest basketball player of all time, every fan would love to see the footage of that training camp game where MJ and LeBron teamed up.

It would be a dream come true for every basketball fan out there, and for a few minutes, they would forget all about the GOAT debate.
