Isiah Thomas is one of the top point guards in NBA history, and there is no doubt that he is the greatest Detroit Pistons player of all time. He was known for his passing ability and defense, and he went toe-to-toe with some of the greats of the game in his prime.

Recently, we saw Isiah Thomas point out that he is the only player that managed to beat Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird during their league MVP seasons. The results show that he led some successful Pistons teams in the 80s.

“When we beat them, they were all MVPs of the league. Magic was the MVP of the league. Jordan was MVP of the league, Bird was MVP of the league when we beat them.”

Isiah Thomas defeated Michael Jordan during his 1987-88 MVP season and took out Magic Johnson during his 1988-89 season. However, Isiah Thomas is wrong in saying he beat all three of those players in their MVP years, as the Celtics made it to the Finals all three years during Bird’s MVP three-peat. He did, however, beat Larry Bird in a playoff series, though, and it is fair to say that he beat all three of those players in their primes.

Isiah Thomas averaged 19.2 PPG, 3.6 RPG, and 9.3 APG throughout his career with the Detroit Pistons. There is no doubt that he was a gifted player, and he is a top 5 point guard in NBA history.

Michael Jordan Believes Isiah Thomas Is The Second-Greatest Point Guard Of All Time

There’s no questioning Isiah Thomas’ talent, and it is clear that he is a legend of the game. Michael Jordan previously claimed that Isiah Thomas is the second-best point guard in the game.

“I respect Isiah Thomas’ talent. To me, the best point guard of all time is Magic Johnson, and right behind him is Isiah Thomas. No matter how much I hate him, I respect his game.”

Many people would disagree with Michael Jordan, as Stephen Curry is widely considered to be the second-best point guard of all-time after Magic Johnson due to his accomplishments in the game. However, Isiah Thomas is definitely one of the best to ever do it, and not many people can say they are a franchise’s greatest player.
