Sony PlayStation recently announced their new collaboration with LeBron James, as they unveiled their new console and controller which is themed after LeBron James, and some of his iconography and favorite quotes. This is part of their PlayStation Playmakers series, where several icons will get to design their own console for Sony.

LeBron even spoke about the process of collaborating with Sony, and what this entire process has meant to him. James was truly honored and humbled to work with the industry leaders in video game innovation, while also acknowledging and paying tribute to the students of his ‘I Promise’ school.
“It’s still crazy to think a kid from Akron who grew up playing games is getting to create something like this. Designing a console cover and controller with PlayStation that gives a nod to my I Promise students and where we come from is a pretty cool thing. I hope it’s something that continues to inspire everyone who touches it, and that they have a little fun finding meaning in every detail.”
LeBron James Continues To Make An Impact On The World
To put this collaboration into context, when LeBron James first debuted in the NBA, the Sony PlayStation 2 was the premiere console in the world. Now, 20 years later, the PlayStation has seen 3 more generations, and 2 more in the handheld sphere, while LeBron James continues to dominate the NBA landscape.
Despite playing incredible basketball, James is clearly nearing the end of his career, with many wondering what his next move is going to be. NBA insiders believe his ambition has now shifted, with James playing with his son Bronny being a greater priority than winning championships.
