Russell Westbrook going to the Los Angeles Clippers is considered by many to be a solid signing, as the point guard is still a quality player that can contribute to a winning team.

In the recent episode of the Fadeaway World Podcast, Lee Tran is joined by Ishaan Bhattacharya and Divij Kulkarni to discuss Russell Westbrook joining the Clippers, as well as how good the move can be for them. (4:00)

Ishaan Bhattacharya: If he’s made that switch internally, that he is not the Russell Westbrook he once was… when the guy is motivated, when the guy is raring to play good basketball, basketball that we know he’s capable of, I think Clippers become after the Suns the second favorites in the West.

Divij Kulkarni: I think Ishaan made some great points. Where Russell Westbrook is at right now, mentally is going to make a huge difference in how he is able to approach this and how it works out with the Los Angeles Clippers… I’m high on this move, Russ going to the Clippers was the move for him… Paul George was desperate to get him… I think being wanted like that make something of a difference to Russ after the stuff he’s been dealing with Lakers fans, the media.

Lee Tran: He’s a solid point guard… Bouncing off your point… I’m pretty high on this move too… I think personally, I don’t think Russell Westbrook was put in the right position to succeed on the Lakers, especially the first year… He’s definitely going to be in a more natural role for him, being the floor general… with so much 3PT shooting… This is really just about Russell Westbrook’s mentality.

Undoubtedly, acquiring Russell Westbrook was a high-risk, high-reward move for the Los Angeles Clippers. Hopefully, it works out for them, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
