NBA insider and analyst Zach Lowe believes Tyronn Lue made a massive gamble with his strategy on how to use Russell Westbrook.
Lowe was candid about Lue’s plans of using the 34-year-old as their primary ball-handler, and that he wanted “Russ to be Russ.” Speaking to the media earlier, the coach also added that he wanted Westbrook to be the player he was — a former MVP, a Hall of Famer, and the skills he brings in each game. However, Lowe had his concerns.
“The Russell Westbrook Ty Lue talked about yesterday — He’s gonna have the ball in his hands, he’s Mr. Triple Double — those comments frankly shocked me & if that’s their vision for what he’s gonna be, this qualifies as one of the biggest late-season gambles in the history of the NBA.”

It does make sense that the analyst calls the decision a gamble. The Clippers enter the final stretch of the regular season as title aspirants, and sometimes asking Westbrook to be himself would also mean dealing with his pros and cons in equal measure.
Russell Westbrook May Make His Clippers Debut Against The Sacramento Kings
It won’t be long before Russell Westbrook dons his new jersey for his new outfit. The explosive guard is all set to make his debut against the Sacramento Kings on Friday.
Westbrook has already shown his excitement about being part of the LA unit. From carrying a beaming smile during his introductory press conference to drilling his teammates to take more shots, he’s already been actively involved in team affairs.
Kawhi Leonard and Paul George will be hoping to see the MVP version of Westbrook that Lue wants him to unleash. Should the move pay off, the Clippers ‘Big 3’ will be easily sweeping series in the days to come. If things do go south, then only time will tell how the team manages to work things out.
