The Golden State Warriors just fell to a brutal loss at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers, as the new-look team proved that they are going to be a force to be reckoned with through the end of the season.

The game ended 111-124 in the Lakers’ favor and the LA-based team enjoyed a 26-point lead in the fourth quarter before playing their garbage time lineups. The third quarter was particularly brutal for the Warriors, being outscored by 12 points and trailing by as many as 16 in the quarter.

LeBron James had one of his worst offensive games of this season, scoring just 13 points on 20 shots. However, one of his made shots was an impressive side-step 3 to put the Lakers up by 16 points. Stephen Curry looked upset after the shot went in, shaking his head in disbelief as the game slipped out of Golden State’s hands.

Curry saw his Warriors fall into the 10th seed with a below .500 record, sitting with a 29-30 record. Everyone has given the Warriors the benefit of the doubt for the majority of the season, but with Curry weeks away from returning, this team is in serious danger of not making it into the top 6.

Will Golden State Fail To Make The Playoffs?

A statement that would’ve been considered blasphemy at the start of the season is one that everyone may have to start worrying about. The Warriors haven’t shown consistency at any point throughout the season unless consistency means hovering around .500 all season long.

With them being the 10th seed, they’ll need to win twice in the play-in just to enter the playoffs as the 8th seed and face the No. 1 seed. With the Thunder, Blazers, and Lakers also pushing to enter the top 10, the Warriors will have to fend off surging rivals while hoping they can climb the standings.

When Curry returns, the Warriors are bound to be better. However, they need to find a way to hold onto their position before fighting their way out from under .500, as the Lakers are having to do right now.
