Everything was going great for Miles Bridges at this time last year. He was in the midst of his best season in the NBA and looked set to get a big deal in the summer from the Charlotte Hornets. Just a day before free agency began, though, he was arrested for felony domestic violence.

He later pleaded no contest to a felony domestic violence charge and was sentenced to 3 years of probation, avoiding jail time. No NBA team really pursued Bridges in free agency as you might imagine but it would appear his return isn’t too far away.

There have been murmurs throughout the season that the Hornets and Bridges were in discussions regarding a deal, but the franchise denied that they had entered into contract talks with him. Now though, Bridges has come out and stated that he could be back in March.

via The Associated Press:

“It’s been a long process,” Bridges told The Associated Press on Tuesday night at halftime of Michigan State’s home game against No. 17 Indiana. “I might be back in March.”

You hate to say it, but it is really not a surprise that they would want him back on the court. At the end of the day, if someone has talent, NBA teams will always be willing to look past any transgressions and we have seen that happen over and over again. He has been at the arena at times as well and they are clearly open to a reunion.

The Hornets Should Brace Themselves For Backlash

To say that this won’t be a popular decision, would be an understatement. LeBron James was blasted by NBA fans for talking to Bridges after the Los Angeles Lakers played the Hornets a few months back so you can imagine what the reaction would be when he gets on the court.

They can probably expect some sort of protest outside the arena as there would be plenty of people who would openly object to this decision. Eventually, though, everyone will, unfortunately, move past this and Bridges will keep playing as if nothing ever happened.
