This was a historic season for LeBron James. Aside from unprecedented dominance in year 20, James also made history by becoming the NBA’s All-Time leading scorer.

It was a momentous occasion for James but also for the NBA, who celebrated as history was being made.

Among the many people to give James his due was Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, who met the basketball legend in the tunnel to share some kind words.

“Being great for so long man. I mean, I’ve been your biggest fan. Congrats man. You set the blueprint for everybody. “

LeBron isn’t the first one to stay effective and play elite basketball late into his career, but he’s doing it better than anyone else ever has. Despite nearly 20 seasons in the league, which includes many Finals trips, James is averaging a healthy 30 points per game on 50.8% shooting.

The problem is, his Lakers haven’t been nearly as good and they are running out of time to make a run and save their season.

Can The Lakers Make The Playoffs This Season?

No matter where you rank LeBron on the NBA’s all-time player hierarchy, missing the postseason again would be another blemish on his otherwise impressive career.

But with Westbrook gone and replaced with depth at almost every position, the Lakers have given themselves a chance to compete in the West and give LeBron a reason to keep playing this season.

Only time will tell how this season ultimately plays out for the Lakeshow, but we shouldn’t lose sight of what LeBron has been doing.

If you stand back and look at the bigger picture of his career as a whole, it’s amazing all that he’s been able to accomplish and continues to accomplish on the basketball court.

Just like Giannis told him after he broke Kareem’s record, LeBron has set the blueprint for long-term prosperity in the league, and he likely paved the way for other star players to extend their careers as he has done.

At 28 years old, Giannis doesn’t have to worry about that yet, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been watching and observing how James is doing it in Los Angeles.
