Everyone knew that the Lakers’ game against the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight was going to be historic because LeBron James was just 36 points behind the all-time scoring record.
People paid out of their noses to ensure they could be a part of the crowd, despite the possibility of James falling short of 36 points, 6 points over his season average. However, James ensured he broke the record tonight after getting his family and friends in the crowd for the moment.
LeBron James had a 20-point first half to just be within 16 points of the record, something he could’ve easily broken over the final two quarters. But after a conversation with his sons, who asked if he could break the record in the third quarter itself, James told them he would do it. And boy, did he actually do it.
“Go ahead and get it?…I’ll get it.” 👏

James’ final bucket was a mid-range fadeaway that may have spawned one of the most iconic pictures of this generation. In the front row, you can see Bryce and Bronny amazed as they’re recording a moment in history.
LeBron James Looking At The Future
The Lakers’ season headline can’t be about LeBron becoming the all-time scoring leader in NBA history, no matter how hard they try to paint it as an honor for the franchise as well. James got most of his points in different stops and was supposed to bring titles to LA. He gave them one in 2020 but hasn’t even been a contender in the last 3 seasons, including this one.
Rob Pelinka has just over a day left before the trade deadline shuts and the Lakers are stuck with the roster they have. It’s imperative they make a trade to save their season. Otherwise, LeBron’s history-making night will become a footnote in another lost Lakers season.
