As a 19x All-Star, 4x MVP, and 4x Champion, LeBron James is undoubtedly one of the greatest scorers and players to ever pick up a basketball. Against the Thunder on Thursday, he strengthened his case as the GOAT by surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s All-Time leading scorer.

It was a monumental achievement for James, which the entire basketball world came together to celebrate.

Today, over 24 hours since the big night, James took to Instagram to reflect and respond to being no. 1.

“I still have no words man!! It feels like a absolute dream y’all! Is It!!?? WOW WOW WOW!! I simply can’t believe it, it’s so surreal! I just wanna say thank you to my beautiful family! Especially my wife, kids and mom. Without yall sacrifices I wouldn’t be able to travel on the journey I’ve been on for the past 20+ years playing the game I LOVE!! MAN THIS IS INSANE!!! Like REALLY!!?? All I can say is The Kid From AKRON is truly truly H.I.M! And truly truly blessed and honored!”

No matter how you feel about LeBron or his place on the NBA’s all-time hierarchy, it’s clear that he belongs in the conversation with the best players in the world, and it’s a testament to the hard work and passion he’s put in for the past 20 years.

Is LeBron James The Greatest Of All Time?

While some fans prefer humility in their stars, LeBron has never been shy about comparing himself to some of the game’s great legends. In fact, LeBron has already called himself the GOAT several times.

“I don’t know, I think it’s great barbershop talk, it’s gonna happen forever and ever. If I was the GM or whatever the case may be of a franchise that was starting up and I had the No. 1 pick, I’d take me,” said James. “But that’s just me because I believe in myself. I know what I bring to the table. That don’t take away from nobody else. I mean so many great players have played this game and had long legacies in this game. This NBA is a beautiful thing and it’s been some beautiful players to play it but I can’t take nobody over me.”

For LeBron to strengthen his case any further, he’s going to have to win another title, and the jury is still out on if they can get it done this season.

But with the trades Rob Pelinka and the Lakers just pulled off, you can bet that he will try.
