Derrick Rose was one of the players massively inspired by the late Kobe Bryant. The latter inspired millions with his work ethic, and the former Chicago Bulls guard was one of them.
Rose, a former rookie of the year and the man who was looked at as the Bulls’ messiah, was one of the few who spent time with Bryant off the court and revealed a hilarious incident when he and the Lakers star were shooting for the NBA 2K commercial.
He revealed how Bryant would show up three hours late for the shoot, but as exasperated as Rose was, he knew where the star was coming from.

Throwback to the Kobe Bryant and Derrick Rose NBA 2K10 Commercial
Speaking to Dan Patrick, he recollected the incident:
“We were having a commercial shoot and it was in like Malibu somewhere and he showed up like three hours late and I’m like, ‘C’mon man.’ But I understood where he was coming from. He made me pay my dues. I waited for three hours for him.”
At that time, Bryant was the cover athlete of the 2K and was coming off his fourth NBA title. One of the more funny instances in the commercial was when the two engaged in some friendly banter about who had the better player, and the veteran won the battle when he said his player had four rings to his name.
Bryant led LA to consecutive championships in 2009 and 2010 and won his fifth title and second Finals MVP in the 2010 Finals by defeating the Boston Celtics. Meanwhile, Rose made his first All-Star team during the 2009-10 season, becoming the first Bull since Jordan to take part in the All-Star Game.
Derrick Rose Trade Rumors: The New York Knicks Are Willing To Trade The Former MVP Only To A Contender
Derrick Rose might not be the force he once was, but he’s still got enough basketball left in him to make an impact whenever he takes the hardwood. He has fallen out of the rotation for the Knicks this season and is averaging 5.8 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists.
Recent developments come as good news for teams interested in adding Rose to their roster, but according to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Knicks have a condition.
One more Knicks item: Sources say that New York is open to finding a new home via trade for former MVP Derrick Rose but only if it can, as one insider put it, “do right by” the longtime Thibodeau favorite. Rose’s role has been reduced sharply this season with the likes of Quickley, Quentin Grimes and Miles McBride emerging.
Rose’s fans will hope that he will get into a side that would still stand a chance to make the playoffs and hopefully go beyond. At the time of writing, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat were some of the teams linked to the All-Star. Only time will tell if he finds a new home by the end of the season.
