The Boston Celtics are the best team in the NBA, they showed it again on Saturday night. Playing against a tenacious Toronto Raptors team, the short-handed Celtics eked out a narrow two-point victory to take their record to an impressive 35-12. This win was made even better by the fact that they did it without their MVP candidate, Jayson Tatum.
Jayson Tatum has been the talk of the town for a lot of this season, making his way into the race for the MVP award. He has been averaging over 31 points per game and grabbing over 8 boards as well, making him the most consistent producer for the Celtics. But Jaylen Brown isn’t far behind, he has been averaging 27 points per game on better efficiency and grabs 7 rebounds per game.
Jaylen Brown Had A Funny Response About Who The No. 1 Option On The Celtics Is
Jayson Tatum has become the face of the Boston Celtics, and most see Jaylen Brown as a wingman to him. However, Brown has been putting up incredible numbers of his own, and that leads to questions from time to time. In the NBA Finals last season, Brown was better than Tatum. So unsurprisingly, after he had 27 points to lead the Celtics in their recent wins, there were questions about who the first option is. And Brown answered those in an honest but witty fashion.
"… I got my money on the Cs… I don't know if I can say that." 😂

“I just play the game. I mean, I’ll let you guys determine what is the options. We’re not number one and number two, I just come out and play the game. The moment you start thinking that is the moment that I think that you’ll start doubting yourself or – there’s no need to come out and play the game any other way than how I normally play. And that’s how I see it.
“Tonight, we was out guys. Obviously, I would get more attention. But tonight, we had guys step up. We had Payton [Pritchard] come out and play really well. Grant [Williams] came out and got hot. And that’s what we need. We’re a team. So, it doesn’t matter who rolls the ball out or which team is doing what, I got my money on the C’s. I don’t know if I can say that.”
The reference, in the end, is to betting, which was a bit tongue-in-cheek, but the larger point stands. The Celtics this season have the best roster in the NBA, with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown surrounded by some stellar talent as well. If they finally win it all, Tatum will get his due, but his teammates should as well.
