When the Los Angeles Lakers traded for Anthony Davis, they gave up a lot of assets to get him. In exchange, the organization expected Davis to use his amazing talents to help the team in winning NBA Championships.

Although Anthony Davis and LeBron James led the Los Angeles Lakers to their first NBA title in 10 seasons in 2020, since then, AD’s career with the Lakers has been ruined due to injuries.

Davis has always been injury-prone, but many expected he might be able to take care of his fitness in hopes of winning multiple titles. After missing most of the last season due to injuries, Davis was expected to hit the ground running this season. For what it’s worth, he was doing just that for the first few weeks. Unfortunately, Davis once again suffered an injury.

Anthony Davis’ Injury Could Be Very Serious Per NBA Insider Ramona Shelburne

Over the last few weeks, there have been many positive updates about Anthony Davis’ injury. In fact, Shams Charania recently reported that Davis is expected to return for the Lakers before the NBA All-Star break.

However, NBA insider Ramona Shelburne has dropped some concerning news about the severity of Davis’ injury. Shelburne believes AD’s injury could be of the same magnitude that ended Yao Ming’s career and kept Joel Embiid out of action for two years.

“I don’t know if people really have their heads around this. The injury he has is a scary injury for any big man. Really for anybody, but especially for big men. It’s the same kind of injury Joel Embiid has when he was a rookie, it cost him a couple of seasons. It’s the same kind of injury Yao Ming had that ended his career in a lot of ways.”

This is really concerning news for the fanbase of the Los Angeles Lakers. A fitness doctor on Twitter tried to explain that may not be true.

That’s not quite true. Embiid & Yao had overt stress fractures and Yao then had a medial malleolar stress fractured (think inside knob of his ankle) that effectively ended his career. The details matter

While a few fans agreed with him, many believe that since Ramona Shelburne is an NBA insider, she may have more information about Davis than him. At the end of the day, fans will hope that Anthony Davis can resume playing basketball as soon as possible.

Before getting injured, Davis was averaging 27.4 PPG, 12.1 RPG, and 2.6 APG. He was also a mainstay in the MVP conversation, and the Lakers could certainly use that form right now.
