When you think of the greatest basketball players ever, the minds of most fans will gravitate to one of two NBA athletes: Michael Jordan or LeBron James. As two of the most accomplished, talented, and captivating players the league has ever seen. They were nearly impossible to stop during their prime and prevented many stars and championship-hopeful teams from winning a ring.

So when asked to build a dup that could beat LeBron and Jordan, it’s no wonder that fans were stumped.

But after a while, fans eventually caught on to the exercise and started compiling their own duos that could get it done against two of the best players the league has ever seen.

“Kobe/Giannis, Giannis/Kawhi, Kobe/Elgin Baylor, Giannis/KD, not saying any would be successful, but each would provide a different challenge.”

“Honestly I’d say Kobe and Kawhi.. if Jordan himself can say Joe Dumars was the best defender he went up against Im fairly certain Kobe or Kawhi could do a better job guarding MJ…”

“Kobe and Durant for me. They should be able to beat them. Lebrons game is suited for team ball and not one on one or two on two ball. Kobe and McGrady should be able to beat them as well.”

“I’ll take prime Bird and Magic any day.”

“Shaq and Wilt. You’re gonna have to launch 3s from half court to shoot over these 2.”

“Shaq and Kobe would probably have a good chance tho.”

“Kobe and wilt…….good luck.”

“I don’t think anyone could but if I HAD to choose, it’d be Kobe and TMac.”

“I’d go Kobe and Wilt. Kobe’s competitiveness won’t let him give up…and Wilt is gonna absolutely smash LBJ.”

“Prime KD and Kobe easily. Kobe n MJ Gon wash. And iso ball KD Gon spark LBJ easily. If it’s 5 on 5 LBJ would thrive more. 2 v 2 is one on one just taking turns and a few pick & rolls.”

Most fans seemed to agree that Kobe Bryant would be the best player to put up against LeBron and MJ. And as someone who adapted Jordan’s moves into his own bag of tricks, it makes sense that Bryant is a favorite pick in this hypothetical matchup.

The question is, who should be his running mate? Guys like Shaquille O’Neal, Kevin Durant, and even Wilt Chamberlain have been mentioned. Ideally, it should be someone who can slow down LeBron James.

Nevertheless, no matter your feelings on this debate, it’s pretty clear that Jordan and LeBron are the two best players ever, and the level of difficulty involved with picking a team of two to beat them just shows how amazing they’d be on the court together.
