LeBron James has played in the NBA for 20 seasons and has been a fan for even longer. In all this time, James has watched and played against some of the greats of this game, and Luka Doncic is certainly going to go down as one of them.
LeBron and the Los Angeles Lakers were headed to Dallas to take on Luka’s Mavericks on Christmas, and the two superstars showed up big time. James scored a game-high 38 points, but it wasn’t enough, as Luka finished with 32 points, 9 assists, and 9 rebounds to lead the Mavs to a 124-115 win. Prior to the game, Uninterrupted posted a clip from an episode of The Shop, where LeBron explained what makes Luka so special.
“His size. I mean he’s gigantic. A 6-8 point guard. He’s 225 pounds. He has the ball on a string. And more importantly, his vision. That’s why I love him.”
“He can control a game. He doesn’t even have to shoot. He’ll walk the ball up the court ten straight times and get to his spot every single time, just because of his pace. He knows when he comes off a pick and roll if they’re hard showing or if they hedging or if they dropping the pick and roll. He knows I can turn the corner because I got this shoulder, and I know the third line of defense, when I get there, if I just slow down and use my pivots, not even jump, just the Euro one-two, this guy’s flying by every time. It’s the mind.”
LeBron did call Doncic his favorite player earlier this year, and it is clear he admires his game a lot. There isn’t much of a similarity when it comes to how Luka and LeBron are built physically, but they both are able to dominate because of their minds. Both of them tend to be one step ahead of the competition thanks to their high basketball IQ, and it is a joy to watch them play. LeBron probably isn’t having a lot of fun on the court right now, however, as the Lakers continue to lose.
LeBron James Admits That The Lakers Will Struggle Without Anthony Davis
Just when it seemed like the team was on the right track, they suffered a massive blow as Anthony Davis went down with a foot injury. This loss to the Mavs was their fourth defeat in a row without AD, and after the game, LeBron James admitted that they will struggle without Davis because they don’t have a lot of size on the roster.
It got to a point where head coach Darvin Ham played a 5-guard lineup, and he got blasted by the fans for it. Was Ham trying to send a message to the front office, or did he think that the lineup would work well? We’ll never know. What we do know is that the Lakers are in trouble, and you struggle to find reasons to be optimistic about their prospects for this season.
