The Memphis Grizzlies were on an absolute tear when they headed to Oklahoma City to take on the Thunder. They were on a seven-game winning streak coming into the game and were expected to blow out OKC, who had lost their last five games.
The Grizzlies had also crushed the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night, but they got punched in their faces here as the Thunder used a big second quarter to go up by as much as 24 points. They ended up winning 115-109 and while the result was a shocker; it wasn’t the main story from the game, as that was Ja Morant getting ejected for talking to a fan.
The individual in question was a Grizzlies fan, and the conversation was not a heated one at all, which made the ejection bizarre. Ja then had his father, Tee Morant, head over to the fans and hilariously FaceTimed them from the locker room to let them know he had no issues with them.
Ja had Tee Morant FaceTime the fans he was talking to before ejection 😂💯

It turns out she is a Ja Morant superfan and she revealed what their initial conversation was, which led to his ejection.
After the ejection, Ja Morant’s dad brought over his phone so Lisa could FaceTime with Ja.
Lisa told Ja how awful she felt. Ja, not at all upset with her, said “it’s all good.”

This is Lisa, a Ja Morant superfan who lives in OKC. She was at the center of the interaction that got Ja Morant ejected.
“I was just telling Ja, ‘let’s go.’
“He was just like he can’t do much because (the refs) missed a call.”
After the ejection, Ja Morant’s dad brought over his phone so Lisa could FaceTime with Ja.
Lisa told Ja how awful she felt. Ja, not at all upset with her, said “it’s all good.”
It does make sense now why he got the second technical, as the referee didn’t like the criticism coming his way. It still seems excessive to eject him for it, though, but we have seen the referees be quite sensitive these days.
Ja Morant Got Compared To Allen Iverson
Putting this ejection aside, there is a lot to like about what Ja has done on the court this season. He is averaging 26.7 PPG, 7.7 APG, and 6.7 RPG to lead the Grizzlies to the best record in the Western Conference and that is with Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr. missing time with injuries.
Stephen A. Smith, who has deep ties with Allen Iverson, paid Ja a wonderful compliment, stating that he is AI 2.0. Iverson himself has also stated in the past that there are some similarities and Ja would be hoping that he can take the Grizzlies a step further than Iverson took the Sixers and win a championship.
