The Charlotte Hornets are currently a rebuilding team. They are 13th in the Eastern Conference and have a 7-19 record. Though they have some good players on the roster, it is in their best interests to bottom out and try and get a higher chance of getting a lottery pick in this upcoming draft class which features Victor Wembanyama.

A recent report from Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report revealed that teams around the league are “keeping an eye” on whether players like Terry Rozier, Kelly Oubre, and Mason Plumlee become available in the future.

The Hornets didn’t intend to tank this season, but injuries and roster composition have done the job. Teams are keeping an eye on the availability of players like Terry Rozier, Kelly Oubre Jr. and Mason Plumlee. Gordon Hayward was on that list before his shoulder injury. Additionally, P.J. Washington (a pending restricted free agent) could be available as he’s believed to be seeking a larger payday than the Hornets are willing to offer.

There is no doubt that all three of these players could potentially help contending teams. Terry Rozier and Kelly Oubre Jr. profile as solid bench scorers, while Mason Plumlee is a solid veteran big man.

It remains to be seen if the Charlotte Hornets do, in fact, trade their veterans in the future. It is definitely a good move to try and see what offers are out there, though, as the returns from trading those players could help the team with its rebuild.

The Los Angeles Lakers Want Terry Rozier

There are already teams that have been revealed as having a potential interest in some of the Charlotte Hornets players. It was previously reported that the Los Angeles Lakers are interested in Terry Rozier.

Point guard Terry Rozier, forward Gordon Hayward and center Mason Plumlee are three guys executives around the league are eyeing in Charlotte, and would-be contenders teams like the Knicks, Heat, Mavericks, Suns, and Lakers are expected to inquire should those players be put on the market.

“Rozier is a little tougher because he has the contract (first of a four-year, $96 million deal) but he has fans with the Lakers, if they want to give up some picks.”

There is no doubt that Terry Rozier could be a solid trade option for the Los Angeles Lakers. He would certainly improve their bench scoring, and his 3PT shooting would be valuable next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The Lakers got rid of a lot of good 3PT shooters that they had in 2021, so adding another 3PT shooter could help them improve.

We’ll see if the Los Angeles Lakers are able to acquire Terry Rozier in the future. There will likely be other teams who want to trade for the guard, and hopefully, Rozier ends up on a contender.
