With the Toronto Raptors out of playoff contention, Drake is unable to root for his favorite team in this NBA postseason. Instead, he’s settled for rooting against the Lakers, and he made headlines this week for placing over $620K on a loss to the Timberwolves in Game 3.

“Lemme see sum real quick Ant,” wrote Drake on his Instagram story with the full digital receipt.

On X, the first thing fans did was call out Drake’s poor betting record and joke that he had jinxed the Timberwolves with his bold gamble.

“Drake really out here betting $620K like he’s not one loss away from his whole ‘Drake curse’ being real,” wrote one fan on X.

Many people have recognized that Drake has a personal beef with LeBron James that gives him some extra motivation to root against the Lakers star.

“Hahaha that is very petty but I respect it,” wrote another fan.

Some wild fans even challenged Drake to increase his bet and put $1 million on the Lakers to lose.

“Why $620k Drake?” asked one fan, “not confident enough to put up the full million?”

Drake, 38, is a Canadian rapper and one of the most successful music artists of all time. His following includes millions of fans all over the world, and as a longtime NBA fan, he has many ties to the league and its players.

Until a few years ago, Drake had a positive relationship with LeBron James and his family, but a recent falling out has put them on bad terms. It all began back in 2024 when LeBron was caught vibing to Kendrick Lamar’s song, ‘Not Like Us.’ The song is a diss track to Drake, made during the middle of a brutal rap war.

Things were never the same between LeBron and Drake after that, but they only got worse from there. Drake unfollowed James on Instagram and then dissed him in a viral song. LeBron is a traitor in the eyes of Drake, and it seems that he’s done trying to play nice.

After watching LeBron and the Lakers thrive all season, Drake is tuned in to watch them fight to avoid elimination. With a net worth of $300 million, Drake can also afford to bet on their downfall, and that’s exactly what he’s hoping for.

As the third seed in the West and winners of 50 games this season, the Los Angeles Lakers began their first-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves as the favorites to win. Now, with the series headed to the Target Center on a 1-1 tie, the outcome has never been more uncertain.

Tonight’s game in Minnesota will be a major turning point in the series, and the Lakers will be giving everything they have to try and steal the win on the road. With LeBron James, Luka Doncic, and Austin Reaves, the Lakers are at full strength, and they will be playing with no restrictions tonight.

The key to victory for Los Angeles will be keeping up with the opponent’s physicality and ensuring that the role-players are in a position to succeed. If they do that, it will go a long way toward securing the win and making Drake $620K poorer.
