23-year-old Lonnie Walker IV may not be on track to be a star in this league, but he’s been a valuable player for the Lakers this season with averages of 16 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. Most importantly, he’s been among the team’s better shooters this season, with a 36% hit rate from downtown.

Tonight, Walker and the Lakeshow will be looking to avoid another losing streak against Joel Embiid, James Harden, and the Philadelphia 76ers.

Looking ahead to the matchup, Walker IV expressed confidence in his team and in the play of Anthony Davis, who has been playing like an MVP candidate all year long.

“We got Anthony Davis,” Walker IV said. “That’s all I worry about. I’m not too worried about him. He’s a terrific player, three-level scorer. You know what he does. He’s one of the most unstoppable players in the league, but we got great players on our side too. So I’m worried about me and mines, knowing the game plan on what we’re doing against him, and just trying to get a win.”

Walker IV did add that he has a lot of respect for Embiid and how talented he is, but he is confident in what Davis can do and how he can put a stop to the Philadelphia star.

“Joel Embiid is a terrific, fantastic player,” Walker IV added. “With the Spurs, I mean, it was almost impossible to stop him sometimes. This is another testament of who AD is, what he is yet to become, and I’m excited.”

As the Sixers have dealt with various injuries, Embiid has elevated his game to another level to keep his team afloat. No matter how well the other Sixers play, Joel being out there is going to give the Lakers a major challenge, and it will be interesting to see if they pass the test.

Anthony Davis Could Build On MVP Case With Another Dominant Performance Tonight

Since the 2020 bubble run, Davis hasn’t lived up to expectations as one of the league’s most talented athletes. Over the past 10 games or so, however, AD has really become a different player. With a focus on the rim, the star big man has been unstoppable on offense, and it has propelled the Lakers to a respectable 10-14 record after a 2-10 start.

All of it has been enough for people to take notice, and even Shaquille O’Neal had to admit that there’s something special going on with ‘the Brow’ right now.

“AD is balling, and he’s been playing the 4. There is a lot of versatile 4s, but there aren’t many versatile Centers. When he moved to Center, and they run the offense through him these are the numbers that you are going to get. Now, can he stay healthy? You know when he’s in shape and he’s flowing, these are the numbers you are going to get. You know that 55, that’s AD when he says ‘I’m going to be AD.’ He’s dominating, and I’m happy for him and the Lakers,” Shaq said.

While the Lakers still have a lot of ground to make up, this is an encouraging sign for them. If Davis can stay healthy and continues to dominate opponents, the Purple and Gold might just have a shot against anyone.

Against a very resilient and scrappy squad tonight, it will be no easy feat to get back on the right side of the win column.
