Montrezl Harrell didn’t have an easy offseason, as he was a free agent trying to find a new team while also dealing with some off-court issues. Harrell was busted with marijuana in May, which created some problems for him. Harrell was facing felony charges after officers found three pounds of marijuana in his car.

Charlotte Hornets forward Montrezl Harrell is facing felony drug charges stemming from a traffic stop in Richmond, Ky., last month.

According to Madison County, Ky., court records, Harrell was scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m. Monday to answer the traffic citation. Harrell, 28, was pulled over by a Kentucky state trooper at 9:58 a.m. on May 12 while traveling southbound on I-75 for following the vehicle in front of him too closely, according to the police records.

Fortunately, he avoided jail time and is now ready to focus on his new challenge with the Philadelphia 76ers, the team that signed him just a couple of days ago. Trez will bring a lot to this team, which keeps getting better ahead of the new NBA season.

Montrezl Harrell Names Nikola Jokic The Toughest Big He’s Guarded In Front Of Police Officers

Even though this situation is part of the past now, fans are learning about the details of the incident now, as footage of the weed stop has surfaced, showing how the situation was handled by both parties and what Harrell told the officers.

Surprisingly, they asked the former Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers player a bunch of questions about the NBA, including who was the toughest big man he had to go against. Harrell replied with the name of the current NBA MVP Nikola Jokic.

He also talked about LaMelo Ball, calling him a normal kid, also about his former teammate Patrick Beverley and how much he enjoyed being disliked, and many other things.

Ironically, he said that Philadelphia had the worst facilities in the league, but now things have changed, apparently.

Harrell dodged a bullet here and is ready to have a fresh start in Philly, trying to help the team achieve big things in a season that will be very challenging for them.
