Stephen Curry has established himself as the greatest shooter of all time. Passing Ray Allen’s record was something he was always going to do, and now that he has, it is up to him to set the bar at a place where it will take another generational superstar to break it. Curry’s game has a lot more to it than just elite shooting, though, his off-ball movement is arguably the best in the league, and his ball-handling is also up there with the best in the league.
Curry is at the top of his game, there aren’t many that can approach the influence he has enjoyed on the game of basketball. While small ball and shooting from deep were ideas that were already starting to become popular, Curry’s ridiculous efficiency from deep hastened the process. So much so that kids in the park that once couldn’t wait to be tall enough to dunk now pull up from all over the court like their favorite superstar.
All the skills he has worked so hard to develop are instrumental to Steph’s game, so it would be hard to pick one as the main one over the others. And if it’s hard for basketball analysts and fans to do, it’s easy to imagine that this is even harder for the man himself. But despite how tough it is, he recently had to give that answer.
Stephen Curry Picked Between His Elite 3-Point Shooting And His Phenomenal Dribbling Ability
During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Curry played a fun hypothetical-based game called ‘This Or That.’ He had to answer tough questions about his rivals, like LeBron James winning the 5th ring before him, and at one point also had to choose between his shooting and his ball-handling.
Ashley Nicole Moss: “If you had to lose one of them, would you rather lose your 3-point shot or your dribbling ability?”
Stephen Curry: “My dribbling ability. Cuz even then I could just run around and catch it and shoot it from wherever. I love to dribble, and do all the flair and stuff, but the name of the game is to put the ball in the basket.”
It’s a testament to how interconnected all his strengths are that Curry would still be one of the best without his otherworldly ability to handle the ball. Shooting is what made him the phenomenon he is, though, so it makes sense that he would pick that. After all, there may be players that can dribble like Steph, but there isn’t anyone that can shoot like him.
