NBA Insider Claims It Is Impossible To See Kevin Durant Paired Up Alongside Russell Westbrook Next Season: “Anything Is Possible Expect For A KD, Russ Reunion”

Ever since the Kevin Durant trade saga began, NBA fans and pundits have been buzzing in the offseason. With arguably one of the biggest names in basketball demanding a trade, the community has been scouring through for trade ideas for the forward.

While the trade rumors have only grown louder by the day, despite weeks passing by after KD’s trade demands, the Nets haven’t moved an inch. Ever since the offseason saw the trade of Rudy Gobert, Durant’s trade stock has sky-rocketed. This has only led to offers by multiple contenders being rejected. Given how Brooklyn has not budged and has improved their roster, predicting KD’s future with the Nets might be a coin flip.

Recently, ESPN’s Tim McMahon had a rather interesting comment on NBA Today. The insider revealed that the Nets being interested in replacing Kyrie Irving for Russell Westbrook if Durant stays is simply impossible and that we surely won’t see the duo of Russ and KD playing together anytime soon. (3:01 onwards):

“Anything is possible, expect for a KD, Russ reunion.”

While KD did play with Russ back in the day in the Oklahoma City Thunder, the two could never find any significant success with each other. Despite being at the peak of their powers, in one way or the other, the duo never fulfilled their promise. Not to forget, things got pretty messy between the two when Durant decided to leave the Thunder and join the Golden State Warriors instead.

Given that Westbrook’s trade value is at an all-time low and the Nets already have a playmaker like Ben Simmons waiting, pairing up KD with Westbrook might end up in a nightmare. Not only will the team struggle to find a fit for Brodie, but the coaching staff will also have an equally hard time managing the egos involved. Do you think we will ever see the duo of KD and Russ play with each other in the NBA?
