The GOAT debate is as eternal as the wind and the sky, and there is simply no escape from it in modern basketball discourse. Michael Jordan may be the greatest for most people, but that doesn’t stop other fans from making cases for their favorite players. LeBron James is famously the one that runs MJ the closest in these conversations, even though he may not have as many rings as the Bulls superstar.

Another way LeBron’s life has imitated Jordan is that he is the only star since MJ to get his own Space Jam movie. And while the movie itself didn’t do as well as MJ’s original, it has added a hilarious angle to the GOAT debate. The games that either legend played for the ‘Tune Squad’ only matter as far as both making the winning shot, however, their stats have now hilariously entered the picture.

Jordan scored 44 points on 22 shots. That’s 200.0 TS%.

LeBron scored 100+ (style) points on 5 shots. That’s 2,000.0 TS%.

Those 2 marks are the highest TS% ever recorded in basketball history.

Now, this would normally be something to smile at and move on. However, the internet being the internet, it was immediately turned into a meme, leading to some epic reactions from NBA fans.

“Wtf Bron, how you gon miss in your own movie?”

“1 rebound and 1 assist better tho.”

“Guess Jordan hates playing as a team not surprised.”

“Did Jordan clutch being down by 1000 pts?”

“This is why LeBron is the GOAT.”

“More evidence that Jordan is the GOAT.”

“I get that MJ and the tunes played the monstars and all but like Brons opposition had a player that could literally stop time brah.”

“Stop defending LeBron, Jordan is better.”

“Wiley coyote carried Lebron, dude dropped like 500 because of that machine.”

“I guess this settles the debate.”

“MJ was playing against plumbers tho.”

“LeBron was also tampering at half time.”

Of course, this is all in good fun, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see some of their fans take it to heart. The debate is always an interesting topic, but sometimes fans get too caught up in their biases on either side. As far as Space Jam goes, though, both Michael Jordan and LeBron James got the job done and won the game, which is all that matters.
