Kenny Smith Destroyed The Overconfident Guinness World Record Holder For Most 3-Pointers In 1 Minute In A Shooting Contest: “Let’s Go Home.”

3 Min Read

Kenny Smith is one of the most recognizable personalities in sports media. The Jet is a part of the well-loved Inside The NBA crew on TNT. His colleagues Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley might be two of the greatest to ever do it, but Smith himself was no slouch in his playing days. An excellent shooter and role player, Kenny was instrumental in the Houston Rockets’ two championships in the 90s.

And one thing that remains true is that shooters never lose their touch. While the body ages and athleticism wanes, the form gained through years and years of practice never deserts the player. Kenny showed that when he went up against the man with a Guinness World Record in 2019.

Inside The NBA had Anthony Miracola on as a guest, the man who scored 31 three-pointers in 60 seconds, a Guinness World Record.

And he ended up having a first-to-three shooting contest against Kenny, who showed him just what it’s like to go up against an elite shooter. Miracola seemed quite overconfident too, which is why Kenny’s easy win seemed even funnier.

“It’s the shirt that’s tight, you know what I’m saying. It’s the shirt that’s tight, but the form that’s never tight. Let’s go home, ladies and gentlemen! Let’s go home.”

Kenny took apart Miracola, who missed all 3 of his shots, while Smith made all 3 of his first ones. He even made his iconic ‘Let’s go home’ call before the third shot went in, walking off with swagger and confidence.

Ultimately, many people can learn to shoot in an empty gym without the lights, that’s just a matter of practice. But it takes a lot to develop the mentality to deliver when it matters, something NBA players work years to develop. The Jet showcased that brilliantly in this clip, and his competitive segments with people on Inside The NBA, even his races with Charles Barkley, are always a treasure trove of entertainment.
