Colby Covington has once again ignited controversy, this time directing his verbal attacks at LeBron James over his recent confrontation with ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith. The UFC welterweight, known for his outspoken political views and public feuds, unleashed an expletive-filled rant, slamming LeBron for what he perceives as hypocrisy and a lack of respect for free speech.

“What a scumbag, bro. Like, dude, it’s America—freedom of speech. LeBron, do you not realize we have constitutional amendments for a reason? Oh yeah, you don’t care about that.”

“You’re bought and sold by the training f***ing finger puppets. So you’re a scumbag. LeBron doesn’t care about this country that made you all that money. And I hope you get sick and f***ing worse. I don’t even want to say any worse, but like, you’re a terrible human being.”

You put targets on the backs of our law enforcement, our fucking first responders, who you use privately for your family to secure you. So you’re just not a good person—you’re despicable, and I despise you.”

“F**k LeBron James you b**h ass motherf****r. Come see a real ass motherf*****g OG and get your ass knocked the f**k out without your private security.”

The incident that sparked Covington’s tirade occurred courtside when LeBron James confronted Stephen A. Smith about his recent critique of Bronny James. Smith had questioned whether Bronny was receiving undue attention simply because of his father’s legacy, suggesting that the young player had not yet proven himself at an NBA level.

This did not sit well with LeBron, who reportedly walked away from a team huddle to address Smith directly. The exchange quickly went viral, with many debating whether LeBron was justified in defending his son or if he was being overly sensitive.

Covington, never one to miss an opportunity to take shots at LeBron, jumped into the controversy with a scathing rant. Speaking to Full Send MMA, he called LeBron a “scumbag” and accused him of undermining freedom of speech.

The intensity of his comments sparked major backlash, with many calling out Covington for crossing a line from criticism into personal threats.

Covington’s long-standing beef with LeBron James is well-documented. He has previously labeled the four-time NBA champion as “un-American”, criticized his stance on social justice issues, and even challenged him to a fight in the past. This latest rant only added fuel to the fire, reigniting the ongoing hostility between the two.

Meanwhile, Stephen A. Smith later clarified his stance, saying he understood LeBron’s frustration as a father. However, he doubled down on his opinion, maintaining that Bronny James still needs to prove himself before receiving NBA-level praise.

LeBron, on the other hand, has remained silent on Covington’s latest remarks. The Lakers star has never publicly responded to the UFC fighter’s repeated attacks, choosing instead to focus on his career. While some fans called on LeBron to retaliate, others believe giving Covington attention is exactly what he wants.

The controversy surrounding LeBron’s courtside confrontation with Smith and Covington’s reaction reflects the larger debate about athletes and free speech. While some argue that LeBron has every right to defend his son, others believe public figures should expect criticism and handle it professionally.

Regardless, Colby Covington’s verbal assault on LeBron James has once again made headlines, keeping their one-sided feud alive. Whether LeBron will respond or continue to ignore Covington’s provocations remains to be seen.
