Steph Curry and LeBron James are the two most iconic players of this generation. LeBron had been the best player in the league for years until in some people’s minds, Curry elevated himself into LeBron’s stratosphere after his ascension to superstardom in 2015.

LeBron has always been a bit dismissive of these comparisons and Brian Windhorst claimed on ESPN that he would laugh at comparisons between him and Curry. Steph has been at the center of attention of the NBA world after the Golden State Warriors made it back to the NBA Finals and the Warriors guard was also awarded the first Magic Johnson Western Conference Finals MVP. Windhorst, however, indicated that even if Curry does go on to the title, LeBron still wouldn’t put much stock into these comparisons.

“I’m just imagining if LeBron was here right now and had a glass of wine in him hearing this conversation, the things that he would say would be unbelievable. On one hand, I have to say, if Steph Curry wins the Finals and the MVP, when you talk about a guy with 4 rings, 2 MVPs, and a Finals MVP. We’re talking about the uber elite in the history of the game, talking about Jordan, LeBron, Russell, stuff like that. Steph would be one of like 5 guys to have ever done that, but LeBron James would laugh at the concept that they’re being compared like this,”

While Curry has revolutionized the game like few have ever done and his impact on the current NBA is enormous, there really isn’t a comparison between the two. This will go down as the LeBron James era even if Steph is to win the title and that elusive Finals MVP.

The Warriors are still waiting to see who exactly they’ll face in their quest for the title, as the Heat-Celtics series has extended to a Game 7. With both teams beating up on each other, you would fancy the Warriors to pick up the pieces and win it all, but we do look set to be treated to a great NBA Finals regardless of who gets there.
