NBA Analyst Breaks Down Chris Paul’s Failure To Get Involved In Game 4 Loss Against The Mavericks: “Some, His Own Doing, Some, Just Not Smart Plays… It Was A Very Strange Game For Chris Paul.”

Chris Paul did not enjoy a fruitful trip to Dallas during the Phoenix Suns’ second-round series against the Dallas Mavericks. The veteran point guard, who torched the Mavs in the first two games, especially in Game 2, had a career-high number of turnovers in Game 3 before collecting more fouls than points in Game 4 and fouling out with approximately 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter of the game.

A couple of calls on Paul were soft. However, this didn’t absolve CP3 entirely, with the point guard making some questionable decisions at the wrong times during the game despite being in foul trouble and getting called out for it. Tim Legler, speaking on ESPN’s show Get Up, broke down what went wrong for Paul during the loss.

“You’re looking at the combination of factors that led to Chris Paul not being included in that game. Some, his own doing, some, just not smart plays when you’re already not getting the benefit of the doubt on calls earlier.

“There’s also a couple he’s just wrong place, wrong time and then I thought there was a couple other ones that I just absolutely disagreed with the call, anyway you slice it, when you’re in that kind of trouble the entire game, there’s no way you can get into rhythm on the other end of the floor.

“I just thought it was a very strange game for Chris Paul.”

Paul’s night only got worse after his family was involved in an incident with a fan that reportedly put his hands on Paul’s mother and his wife. The veteran point guard will be hoping that a return to Phoenix for Game 6 can change his fortunes once again and he will do everything in his power to turn this bad stretch around. The Suns were the best team in the NBA this season, and their aim should be to close this series out and move on to the Western Conference Finals.
