Joel Embiid made an impressive return to the court in Game 3 of the Miami Heat-Philadelphia 76ers series, taking his team to a dominant win over a squad that demolished his teammates in the first games.

The MVP candidate had a solid performance, posting an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double on Friday night. Following the game, he was showered in praise by everybody around the league, especially his teammates.

Tyrese Maxey had nothing but good words to say about Embiid following his comeback. The young guard recalled all the things that the Cameroonian has gone through this season and the way he’s overcome them, lauding his capacity to keep playing at the highest level despite all the obstacles.

Via NBC Sports:

“I was so happy to see ’21’ hanging up in the locker room with his mask,” Tyrese Maxey said after exploding for a tremendous 21-point second half. “He’s a soldier, man. He’s a soldier. Thumb, mask, concussion, broken face — makes him look even uglier now. But nah, he’s resilient, man. He’s the MVP for a reason. Just the attention that he demands is great for us. It’s just a testimony to his will and to his wanting to win.”

Embiid is having a terrific season, becoming an MVP candidate thanks to his performances with the Sixers. The NBA might have accidentally leaked that he won the coveted award, which made fans dream about having another league MVP after many years.

The Sixers will try to even the series tonight at Wells Fargo Center. Joel is ready to show up again and dominate even more. He’s the reason why the Sixers have chances to win this series, and a win today would work wonders for him and the rest of the squad.
