Kendrick Perkins Urges The Lakers To Rest LeBron James For The Rest Of The Season: “Why Even Put All That Workload On This Old Veteran Senior Citizen Guy?”

The Los Angeles Lakers have hit rock-bottom in the 2021-22 NBA season. After their defeat against the injury-depleted Los Angeles Clippers, it is almost certain that the Purple and Gold’s season is almost over.

Although almost the entire Lakers roster is struggling to get into form, LeBron James has played at a great level. The King has been having one of the best seasons of his long career, yet his efforts don’t seem to add any worth to the team’s performance.

So one might wonder if it is time to rest LeBron for the remainder of the season. After all, he is 37-years-old and is dealing with injury issues too. Well, some might say there is still hope for LeBron and co. to turn the season around, former NBA player turned analyst Kendrick Perkins doesn’t believe that.

In a recent video, Perkins urged the Lakers to give James rest and let him rest for the remaining games.

“The Lakers are not going anywhere, and when you look at their remaining schedule in the month of March, it’s only one team which I see them beating, and that’s the Houston Rockets. LeBron James is not fully healthy, so why even waste time? Why even put all that workload on this old veteran senior citizen guy? That you are gonna need next year.”

Perkins made his point extremely clear about what the Lakers need to do about LeBron James. But he didn’t stop there, the NBA analyst also tweeted about the same recently.

“At some point the Lakers might need to consider shutting Bron down! It’s no more hope for them… no need putting more miles on the old man who’s going to be in his 20th season next year. He’s given everything and more. On top of all that he’s playing on a hurt knee! Real Talk.”

Considering the Lakers are on the verge of even dropping below the position required to play the play-in tournament, it might make sense in resting LeBron.

After all, the franchise wouldn’t want James to get injured in hopes to save a season that is almost out of the team’s grasp.
