With all the craziness that transpires throughout the NBA, it can be easy to forget what it’s all about.

While there is a natural and necessary business side of things, the league is all about creating a special moment for the fans and the community.

On Sunday, right in time for Christmas week, Damian Lillard made one young fan’s wish come true.

He arrived early in the game, with a sign aimed at getting Lillard’s attention.

It took a little while, but Dame did follow through and deliver with a greeting, essentially delivering a Christmas miracle for this awesome basketball fan.

Over the past few months, there has been a lot of talk about Lillard leaving Rip City, and nobody could really blame him if he did. The Blazers have failed to build a contending roster around him, and the front office is still trying to recover after the ugly exit of Neil Olshey.

Despite it all, the star guard has remained committed to the organization every step up the way.

Me being the leader, I have to overly buy in. I have to show I am committed to that regardless of what it looks like for me, even if I’m struggling offensively to find my spots, to find my way in the offense. Even if I’m missing shots, I got to be the person to show the most buy-in to get everyone to buy in,” said Lillard.

“People are saying, ‘Dame is frustrated.’ I am frustrated with losing and not playing my best. But that doesn’t mean I’m sour on my team and I’m looking elsewhere. … That has never been me. This isn’t my first time being in a tough situation.”

In the aftermath of their second-straight victory, the Blazers might be finally starting to get it together after their slow start.

Regardless, it’s good to know that Lillard always makes time for his biggest fans, even amid all the chaos and pressure building up around him.
