• ESPN Insider Adrian Wojnarowski believes the clock is ticking for Joel Embiid’s future with the Philadelphia 76ers
• This is in response to another co-star being mishandled by management leading to a roster shakeup
• Embiid and the 76ers have not made it out of the second round together so far
It seems James Harden will not rest until he gets a move away from the Philadelphia 76ers, publicly calling Daryl Morey a liar at an Adidas event in China.
The public slamming of Morey was controversial but is a clear attempt to put pressure on the 76ers, who are feeling the pressure of heading into their 9th season with Joel Embiid and possibly losing their MVP center, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
“He’s trying to turn up the volume on this organization and Joel Embiid to make them believe they have no choice but to move him on… This is certainly a situation for Philadelphia that they don’t want to domino into Joel Embiid’s future… That clock is always ticking on what it means for your best player and that clock is ticking now for the Sixers and Joel Embiid.”

The 76ers haven’t had a solid core that Embiid has been able to grow with, as poor draft picks and roster mismanagement has left the 76ers in a rough spot. From being loaded with assets in 2018 to their third Embiid co-star wanting out in 2023, this is an example of complete management failure from the Philly front office.
The 76ers May Not Be Able To Salvage The Joel Embiid Era
With Harden making his gripe with Morey public, there is no way the 76ers will get good value for him in an eventual trade. It’s either that or they force Harden to play, and he intentionally plays low-effort basketball, hurting the team even more. Morey has a high price set for Harden that he may have to move off instantly.
James deserves a fair share of blame in this situation, but the 76ers have just been an utter failure in the Embiid era. The Cameroonian center is the only MVP in history to never make a Conference Finals appearance. While his on-court performances are also to blame for that, the rosters around him haven’t been any better.
The 76ers are better off moving on from Harden immediately and making the most of the situation instead of dragging it out because of the egos that have been hurt in this trade saga.
