Tales will be written about the mythical ‘Heat Culture‘ that Pat Riley ensures is observed by every player in his locker room. Andre Iguodala may have been a champion with the Warriors, but seeing ‘Heat Culture’ in action has made the four-time champion believe that he would employ it in a franchise if he ran it.

“When you go to Miami, if you don’t know what you’re going in for, it’s a rude awakening. Like a Straight Metal Jacket movie. It’s a culture… I got three chips being the opposite way. When I first got there, I was like, ‘y’all wilding. Why I gotta be like this’? Then we went to the Finals in the bubble… I said to myself that if I’m ever in the position to run a team, I’m taking 95% of this.”

Iggy then said that players do not get in off-court troubles in Miami despite the glamor of the city. He credited Pat Riley for fostering that culture.

Andre Iguodala Had A Successful Stint In Miami

Iguodala was surprisingly traded by the Warriors in the summer of 2019 after winning three titles with the franchise. He spent half a season refusing to suit up for a young Grizzlies squad with a rookie Ja Morant before getting traded to the Miami Heat. Iggy would return to the Finals with the Heat in 2020. He averaged 4.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists over his two years with the Heat.

After a disastrous second season where COVID ruined the Heat’s chances as most of the team had multiple absences, Iguodala returned to the Warriors in 2021. He won the title to become a four-time champion in 2022 but barely played.

He’s currently a free agent and will either return to the Warriors for his 20th NBA season or call time on his wonderful career.
