Up 2-1 against the Memphis Grizzlies, Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers had a chance to take full control of the series. But no matter how the game ends, the Lakers have a big problem to consider.

According to NBA Insider Chris Haynes, Davis’ health is compromised once again after suffering a hip injury. Hayne reported that Davis was shaking his head on the bench in the closing minutes of the third quarter. With four minutes to go in the fourth, he has just 6 points on 20% shooting.

“Guys, AD is just not right,” reported Chris Haynes on the broadcast. “In this last timeout huddle he was away from the team at the end of the bench, he was just rubbing that right hip and he was just shaking his head back and forth.”

Davis is no stranger to injury scares, and it wasn’t that long ago that he experienced one. Still, Lakers fans were hoping that AD would stay healthy enough to close out this series and get the team into the second round of the playoffs.

But if Davis is not himself, and continues to struggle as he did tonight, it might be a wrap for the Lakers’ season. for now, of course, all they can worry about is Game 5 and grabbing a much-needed win in Memphis.

Anthony Davis Is The Key To The Lakers’ Success

As great as LeBron James has been for the Lakers, the team will only go as far as AD takes them and he must be the best player in this series if the Lakers want to advance. While we’ve seen flashes of dominance from Davis, he hasn’t consistently shown up to play and it’s leaving the window open for Memphis to have their way.

“This is unbelievable. We don’t even get to evaluate the greatness of Anthony Davis because something happens,” said Stephen A. Smith. “How long is this brother gonna last? Is he going to get hurt? Sure enough, before the first half is even finished, he goes down… he better be back!”

It remains to be seen how AD will bounce back from this rough game, but it’s safe to say he’s not 100% right now heading into Game 5.

Once again, it falls on Lebron James to keep the Lakers afloat until Davis can return to full strength.
