Anthony Edwards is one of the most exciting young players in the NBA right now. The Minnesota Timberwolves young star has an electrifying style of play and a big talent to dunk on people.

He was expected to become a participant in the 2022 Slam Dunk contest, but just like Ja Morant, Edwards declined to take part in the competition. He was part of the Rising Stars Game, and ahead of the big game, the player explained why he won’t appear in the contest this year or ever.

Ant-Man says that he doesn’t have tricks to show to fans. He just enjoys posterizing rivals, dunking on people during games, and nothing else.

“No, I’m an in-game dunker,” Edwards said when asked if we’ll ever see him compete in the dunk contest. “I don’t have dunks in my bag like that, for like tricks, I’m not really a big trick guy, I just like to dunk on people.”

For somebody who is constantly talking about how great he is at doing things on and off the court, Edwards’ honesty on this one is strange. He has made incredible dunks in the past two seasons, including two memorable against Yuta Watanabe and Robert Covington.

Well, just like other stars like LeBron James and Zion Williamson, it doesn’t seem like we’ll see Edwards taking part in this contest. The shooting guard knows he’s better doing his thing during actual games, competing with legends like Vince Carter and Michael Jordan for the best in-game dunker of all-time title.

As for right now, we won’t see him taking the court tonight to compete against Cole Anthony, Obi Topping, Jalen Green and Juan Toscano-Anderson.
