Looking back on the 2020 NBA Draft, it wasn’t known at the time for being particularly deep. With Turese Haliburton, LaMelo Ball, and Patrick Williams there was some top-tier talent, no doubt, but there were some major doubts by experts and fans regarding how good those top youngsters would really become.

But if you ask young star Anthony Edwards, who was picked first that year, the 2020 draft class may actually go down as one of the best in the modern era.

“They was saying we was gonna be a bust draft class but from the looks of things, we pretty good… I’m thinking we’re one of the best draft classes for a while.”

The top end of that class is full of misses, from the Warriors and James Wiseman to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Isaac Okoro. But there are also some major hits, including Ant, LaMelo, Tyrese Haliburton, and Desmond Bane.

So, the 2020 class did come with some stars and there is no question that Edwards is the greatest of them. With career averages of 24.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game on 45.9% shooting he is already one of the best young players in the league and there is a lot of optimism about how far his game can grow in the years to come.

Is Anthony Edwards On The Verge Of A Breakout Season?

The Timberwolves haven’t done anything noteworthy over the past few years, but Anthony Edwards can change that for them if he continues his upward trajectory. After finally trading D’Angelo Russell, the Wolves are starting to find their identity and there is no longer a question as to who holds the keys…

“I think I should be in conversations with one of the best players in the NBA. Not now, but after next year I will be,” said Ant. “I mean cuz of the season I’m gonna have.”

This upcoming season could be a big one for Edwards, who will look to prove himself as a top player in the game. Hopefully, it will finally result in some wins for the franchise after years of being in basketball purgatory.
