Anthony Edwards Was Shocked When Michael Jordan Showed Up For His Workout

Even if we already know that there’s no such thing as a ‘can’t-miss player’ when it comes to the NBA Draft – especially in this class – we can all agree that Anthony Edwards is the closest thing we’ll find to that, and that’s why he’s almost a lock to be drafted with the first overall pick.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are currently entitled to that pick but whether they’ll take Edwards, pass on him, or even trade the pick is yet to be seen, as we know that several teams have already worked him out even despite not having a high selection this year.

One of them was the Charlotte Hornets, who currently hold the rights to the 3rd pick of this year’s Draft, but that still wanted to take a glimpse at the Georgia product, hoping he falls to them or maybe even considering making a move for him.

Shockingly, Michael Jordan himself attended Edwards’ workout, and he admitted that he was completely shocked when he saw him walk through the door:

“It was crazy that he came to the gym. It was just shocking! It was like, ‘That’s crazy, that’s Michael Jordan!’,” Edwards told the Charlotte Observer.

The guard admitted that he hasn’t had any further conversations with the franchise but added that he’d be honored to play for them or for any NBA team that’s willing to give him a shot:

“As far as any further conversations, I haven’t talked to (the Hornets) since they came out that day. It would be a dream come true if they draft me. It would be a dream come true no matter who I play for. Whatever team is willing to give me a chance, I’ll be ready to give my all,” he concluded.

Edwards is a gifted athlete and a great scorer already and it seems like he has the potential to turn a franchise around. Whether the Hornets have enough assets and are willing to give them up to land him is yet to be seen but there’s no doubt that he’s exactly the kind of player they need to finally get over the hump.
