It’s not a secret that Joel Embiid is having a wonderful 2020/21 NBA season with the Philadelphia 76ers, having an MVP-caliber campaign with his team, demonstrating he’s ready to take the next step and become the star he was expected to be when he entered the association a couple of years ago.
A lot was said about Embiid, especially about his durability but so far the player has been great. Now some people think he needs to get in shape, but he’s on the right path. JoJo is doing some interesting things with his squad and that is certainly great for them. He’s one of the leading candidates to win the MVP award this season alongside LeBron James and the Sixers couldn’t be happier about it. They’re the best team in the East and Joel has played a big role in that.
A lot has changed in the past couple of years and everybody has noticed that, especially his partner in crime, Ben Simmons, who recently praised the Cameroonian big man and explained what is different for him this campaign. The Australian point guard pointed out that Embiid realized his advantage over the rest of the players and he’s finally using that in his favor.
“I think he realizes how dominant he is,” Ben Simmons said, via The Athletic. “He continues just to get better, especially with his passing and his patience. He lets the game come to him a little bit more now. He’s just been dominant.
“I haven’t seen anybody who can stop him,” Simmons continued. “I don’t know if you have.”
JoJo is playing the great basketball of his career. The player recently stated he worked on his patience, just like Simmons said, also saying that being double-teamed last season helped him become a better passer, something that has benefited the team with all the sharpshooters they have this campaign.
The chemistry between these two is really great, as Embiid has shown he has Simmons’ back and vice versa. Recently, he defended his teammate when somebody attacked him and explained that the value of Simmons isn’t measured by his points.

Well I guess you didn’t watch the game yesterday. His value goes beyond the stats. And Tobias has been dominating and consistent all season and the team is the #1 seed in the east

After having a very bad season last year, the Sixers are the best team in their conference right now, looking like a favorite to come out of the East and these two will have a big role in their hopes to reach the NBA Finals. The good thing is that they’re trying to get better for the team’s sake and that almost all the time means success for an NBA franchise.
