The Kevin Durant trade saga is over, as Kevin Durant has elected to stay with the franchise for the upcoming season. All the speculation about him potentially suiting up for another team will likely end.
While everyone was waiting for Kevin Durant to get traded, there were definitely a lot of varying reports and discussions about where he would end up and what would be the best destination for him. Bill Simmons of The Ringer has recently thanked Kevin Durant and the Nets in a joking manner for providing “lively, provocative and ultimately meaningless content” for the publication’s “podcasts and written pieces”.
On behalf of everyone at @ringer, I’d like to thank the Nets and Kevin Durant for 2 months of lively, provocative and ultimately meaningless content for podcasts and written pieces.

There’s no doubt that it’s a little bit funny that Kevin Durant’s trade request created all of this content and trade speculation, only for him to end up returning to the Brooklyn Nets. However, it is quite likely that analysts will continue to discuss the Brooklyn Nets and their chances to win the championship in the future, as they are once again a contender due to Kevin Durant staying with the team.
We will see how well the Brooklyn Nets do in the future, but having three All-Star/All-NBA level players on one roster is generally a recipe for success. While there are other elite teams in the Eastern Conference, it is clear that the Brooklyn Nets have a much better chance of winning now that Kevin Durant is back in the fold. Hopefully, we see the franchise field a competitive team next year. Perhaps we’ll finally get to see Kevin Durant make it back to the NBA Finals, and maybe even watch him get the Nets their first championship.
