Blake Griffin Throws Shade At Brooklyn Nets Coaching Staff, Suggests He Could Leave The Team: “I’ve Been Doing Offseason Workouts Since March.”

Despite having put in some decent performances during his stint with the team, it seems like Blake Griffin’s time in Brooklyn might be coming to an end. The former All-Star was barely used by the Nets in the playoffs, and that was despite them getting swept by the Boston Celtics. Griffin played just 25 minutes over 2 games in the series, something that has seemingly irritated him.

While Griffin is no longer close to the superstar he used to be in the early days of his career, he’s still a serviceable scorer and rebounder off of the bench. No player is happy getting irregular minutes and not knowing their place on the squad, and this is even more true for players that have been great in the past. Griffin hinted at a potential Clipper reunion earlier this year, and now he has dropped another hint.

Talking to Bruce Brown in an Instagram Live session in a joking manner, Griffin seemingly took a dig at the Nets coaching staff, thus further adding fuel to the speculation that he could be gone from the franchise in the offseason.

“I’ve been doing offseason workouts since March.”

Griffin hasn’t played anything close to a full season since 2015, and in 56 appearances last season, managed just 6.4 points per game, his numbers dropping significantly. A player like him will likely find another contract on a contending team, but his window to maybe end his career with a championship is closing.

It’s a shame to see Blake’s career petering out in this way. For those that were NBA fans for the first 5 years of his career, they will always remember just how much of a beast the high-flying Griffin was. It remains to be seen what his future holds, but it will be interesting to see where he ends up playing basketball next season.
