Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving was recently accused of being a gang member by a celebrity bodyguard named "Big Homie." According to the man, who spoke on the Cam Capone YouTube channel, it all began when Irving refused to move out of the way for Iman Shumpert's pregnant wife as she walked to the bathroom.

"If a pregnant lady is coming out of a section, you should move for the lady whose pregnant is sticking out this far, right? This guy thought he shouldn't have moved. There's two guys... a guy in a grey hoodie and a guy in a suit, and I said excuse me. So I get my arm out and I push the dude out of the way. He got mad as hell, bro. He got pissed off about it," Big Homie said. "Like, he throwing up gang signs at me and everything."

It's unknown why Irving wouldn't move for Iman's wife and her bodyguard, but he didn't appreciate being shoved like he was. Apparently, he held a grudge for a long time and threatened Big Homie by flashing gang signs for the Bloods.

"This man held this against me for a long time," Big Homie added. "So every time I have seen him, he had an attitude with me, he throwing up gang signs at me. Kyrie is a Blood, bro."

It's not unheard of for players to tease gang affiliation before but in the case of Kyrie Irving, he's probably the last one you'd expect to be engaged in such affairs. Besides tarnishing the legacy he's worked hard to maintain, his involvement would come with a lot of implications and it's not something to be taken lightly. So for Irving to flash the signs like that means that he was willing to risk everything just to make his rage known. To this day, it seems Irving never got over that little incident.

Kyrie Irving Is On A Redemption Arc With The Mavericks

It's no secret that Kyrie's history is riddled with controversies. Dating back to his trade request from the Cavaliers, Irving has never been afraid to speak his mind and follow his heart, which can often lead to rash decisions. After publicly promising to re-sign with the Celtics in 2019, turned his back on the team and chose to join the Nets that summer instead. That's not to mention all the games he missed in his team's arena for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine.

As a former flat-earther and self-proclaimed free-thinker, Irving has always been cut from a different cloth but now he has a chance to make amends for his past with a championship win this season.

In just their second year together, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving are seeing amazing success and are working with peak efficiency to maximize each other's game. Irving, in particular, has been on fire for the Mavericks with averages of 22.4 points, 5.3 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game so far.

After so much chaos and drama over the years, it's a miracle that Kyrie is here now with a chance to rewrite his legacy. If he can help close out the Timberwolves in Game 5 on Thursday, it will mark the fourth time in his career he's been to the NBA Finals and it'll be his best chance yet of winning ring number two. If he does that, everybody will begin to forget the shady things he's done in the past.
